Will the installation of a system cause significant damage to my lawn?

No. The piping system is comprised of rugged polyethylene pipe which is installed underground by use of a pipe "pulling" machine. This machine literally pulls the pipe underground at a depth of 8" to 10" leaving only a knife-like cut in the lawn. No trenching or backfilling is necessary, and the lawn is recovers quickly.

How much water does my lawn require?

Experts in lawn maintenance agree that lawns in our geographic region require one inch of water per week.  Your system will provide that amount of water (and more, if you require it) on an every day or every other day watering cycle.  This day selection feature is especially important in areas where watering is restricted on an every other day basis.

Will my water bill increase with a sprinkler system?

No.  If you have been doing an adequate job of watering your lawn, your water bill will either decrease or stay the same.  The system distributes only the water your lawn needs; [no more, no less.]

Can I run my lawn mower over my sprinkler?

Yes.  All lawn sprinkling heads retract below the cutting level when not in operation so that you can mow your lawn without fear of damaging the sprinkler nozzles.

What do I do when it rains?

Your system comes equipped with a program interrupt switch which is usually located in the garage or equally suitable place.  The property owner need only move the switch from the "water" to the "omit" position to interrupt the watering cycle.  The water program  will be reinstated when the switch is replaced to the "water" position.  No adjustment to the timing device is necessary or a sensor may be added to do this automatically.  The Mini Click Rain sensor is easily added to your system and is installed on a roof top.  It is an override for your clock to prevent run time during a rain storm or right after a rainy stretch.  once the sensor has dried it allows the clock to go back to normal operation.

Can I water my entire yard at one time?

Residential water services are inadequate to operate an entire underground system simultaneously.  To solve the water supply problem, the lawn is divided into sprinkling "zones" which operate a certain number of sprinkling heads at a given time.  Each watering zone is independent of the other zones and consequently, you can closely control the amount of water being distributed in any given area.  Average residential systems are usually divided into 6 to 12 zones depending upon the water supply and the size of the property.

What does the term "automatic sprinkling system" mean and how does it differ from a system I turn on and off myself?

The term "automatic system" means the watering cycle is operated by an electric timing device that turns the system on at a predetermined time.  This automatic timer allows you to choose what days you wish to water while regulating the amount of water being distributed.  A manual system is one that requires the property owner to turn on and off each of the "sprinkling" zones by means of a series of gate valves.

In our area, manual systems usually require more attention than most property owners care to devote, because it is necessary to divide the lawn areas into several zones.  You will find the difference in cost between automatic and manual is insignificant as did over 95% of our customers, who choose the automatic controls.

How do I protect the sprinkling system from freezing?

A maintenance contract is the safest and most effective way to protect your sprinkler from freeze damage.  Experts in maintenance will evaluate all the water from the piping system by use of compressed air.  This "blow out" is a very inexpensive technique.
Automatic draining systems are available, but are either expensive or unreliable, or both.  An automatic drain system voids the 2 year unconditional guarantee.
